JoggFit - fitness mobile app
JoggFit changes how people take part in running challenges - combining virtual runs with real rewards. Building on the growing trend of virtual sports events, we created a platform that links digital activity tracking with tangible, physical prizes.
About the client
Trofea.pl is a Polish manufacturer of sports medals and trophies with years of experience supplying awards for sporting events. Observing market shifts and the virtual race trend, the company decided to expand into organising virtual runs.
The company was looking for a solution that would:
- Break the barrier between the digital world and physical products
- Create a new revenue channel through virtual race organisation
- Reach people who prefer individual training over mass events
- Build a runner community around the brand
Project goals
- Running with a physical reward - An app where completing a virtual challenge earns a real medal
- Automatic tracking - Integration with popular fitness platforms for effortless activity monitoring
- Engaging experience - Features such as an interactive map with checkpoints and virtual postcards to boost engagement
- Paid challenges - A business model for organising paid virtual races
- Simplicity and convenience - An intuitive interface that encourages regular use
Challenges
Collecting activity from multiple platforms
We needed a system that could collect and process data from multiple sources: Apple Health, Google Health, and Strava. A challenge was adapting to the shift from Google Fit to Google Health mid-project. The new platform was in beta and offered limited features.
Users had to receive a consistent experience regardless of the device they used.
Processing large volumes of data
The app had to process hundreds of thousands of activity records generated by users. Each activity included detailed route, speed, pace, calories burned, and other parameters.
The challenge was storing this data in a way that enabled fast processing and analysis.
Advanced activity validation
To ensure fairness in challenges, the system had to recognise and classify activity types. We built an algorithm to distinguish running from cycling or walking based on parameters such as speed and distance.
This was especially difficult with Google Health, which did not provide data as detailed as Apple Health.
Standing out in the fitness app market
The fitness app market is highly saturated - a marketing challenge. We needed a unique value proposition to attract users tired of standard activity tracking apps.
